The Ultimate Edit visits a singles night out with The Inner Circle at Black Dice London

Last night I left my comfort zone and did something unexpected. I officially attended a singles night — all in the name of work, of course!
The night I attended claimed to be one of London’s most exclusive dating platforms.

These singles mingles are held monthly and promise you will meet like minded single professionals and step into the ‘inner circle.’ (The inner circle appeals to a wide range of elite professionals from corporate high flyers to hip creatives.)

How it works

Each applicant goes through a personal screening process, to ensure they match up to the standard of the inner circles on line community.
The night is always set in intimate and glamorous locations around London, and the one I attended was held at a black dice bar in Mayfair tucked away underneath a Moroccan bar. It was set up like a rock stars living room, with low ceilings, dim lighting and ornately patterned furniture. It was a great mix of 60s London and had a cosy Moroccan vibe

I met Miryum the events and her colleagues Pamela & Sam, who were all very warm and welcoming, and had great passion for their role within the organisation. They gave me great insight into what the founders vision was and how it came about, all while introducing me to others. The hostess Barbara did a great job of keeping my glass filled too!

Director and founder, Michael circled the room and interacted with everyone he met. He introduced himself to me and began to tell me he was inspired by a friend who was newly single and had tried out a few online dating sites and realised that it was all so very impersonal and anonymous, and really not how he wanted to find a partner. He wanted to meet people, but like-minded people in a social environment. He created this group where you met and everyone brought a friend. It was by invitation only as this ensured that there was always a common connection. And it really took off. Now years later, the Inner Circle is a hugely successful app. Once inside you can see things like mutual friends, interests, hobbies and you can also invite friends.

The music that played was a mellow mix of classics by James Brown and Jamiroqui which kept the night lively but easy enough to talk and engage pleasantly

As I chatted with others, my attention was drawn to a secret play room! Although lot of people saw, few ventured into this cool hub (the only area of the bar with AC) with its walls decorated with images of scantily clad ladies. it soon became a hit.

Prosecco was flowing, as was the conversation and I spotted two people getting on famously.

Her attire was simple; a navy dress and heels, while he wore a white shirt and jeans combination.
He is a gentleman, getting drinks and topping up her glass constantly. They are chatting, laughing and having a great time. Then Terence Trent Darby comes on and suddenly they are having their own little dance party.

By 10pm the venue was buzzing with lots of chit-chat and laughter. It seemed the effort and organisation has definitely paid off. It’s seems this little inner circle has been cracked!
